A Veteran’s Thoughts

I have been asked by some of my friends and readers for my opinion on the election of Donald J. Trump. I’m not sure if I fully understand all of the pluses and minuses of what just happened or what is going to happen. Let me say right here, I am overjoyed that President Trump will once again be leading this country and making America great again.
Let me remind you of many, not all, but many of the troubles we experienced during the Biden presidency. The very first thing on my list is the absolute disaster of the withdrawal from Afghanistan and the terrorist attack at Abbey Gate. In my opinion there is no excuse for what Biden did. He had no thought or compassion for the men and women serving in Afghanistan. His only thought was a selfish one, receiving credit for stopping the war.
As I said before there are too many problems with the Biden administration to name here so I’ll only mention the ones I feel were the worst. It became very clear to all who had eyes to see and a brain to think that Biden was having trouble with his cognitive ability. That was a problem. But the worst problem is they tried to hide it from us. Remember, the cover up is always worse than the offense.
Let me list some of the problems that started or escalated under the Biden administration. They are the open border, crime, inflation, boys in girl’s bathrooms and in girls’ sports, DEI, defunding the police, human trafficking, the shipping of illegal immigrants all over the United States, condoning shoplifting, Fentanyl, the war on oil and fracking, lawfare, student loan forgiveness, the mandate that we all drive electric cars without enough charging stations to make it feasible, and the killing of the Keystone Pipeline.
Why do I believe Trump won the election so handily? General George S. Patton told us one reason many years ago. When he was speaking to the second Armor Division before leading them in World War II, he told them, “Americans love a winner and will not tolerate a loser.” When Donald Trump leads, America is a winner. Remember, “promises made, promises kept.” He cares about this country and its citizens. When he says “Make America Great Again” he wants everyone to have success and to be free to pursue happiness. In spite of what the media tells you, he cares about you. It’s the Left who doesn’t.
When Biden was running for office in 2020, he told us he would be a president for all and that he was a uniter, not a divider. After he was in office he began to divide the country. While he was running for a second term, he called Trump derogatory names. That was bad enough, but then he called Trump’s supporters by those same names. That is not the best way to unite the country. It was bad enough to call Trump Hitler and a fascist, but he said it applies to all the MAGA people. We even heard Biden call Trump supporters “garbage.” Wow, what was he thinking?
Many of my friends were telling me they didn’t have much hope that Trump would be successful. It seemed as if everyone and everything was against him. The entire time he was running to be the 47th president of the United States he wasn’t only running against Biden and then Harris, but also the left-leaning media, most movie stars, rock stars, sports stars, and the crooked DAs throughout America.
After Biden’s dismal debate performance, the Democrat leadership staged a “soft coup” against a sitting president. They installed Harris as their favored candidate, even though she had never received as much as one vote herself. Was this because without Harris on the ballot they would have lost access to Biden’s enormous campaign war chest? Was it all about the money?
We were continually being told that Biden was on his game and just as sharp as he had ever been. Harris continued to lie about Biden’s mental state even while we could all see he was having trouble communicating in public. Harris lied about being from a middle-class family, many believed she lied about working at McDonalds during college. The American people do not like being lied to.
Harris didn’t have one news conference while Trump had many. Trump was not afraid to talk to anyone who would talk to him. He even went into areas that most Republican candidates refused to go in past campaigns. Harris only went to venues that she could control or were friendly to her. At her rallies she only spoke for a few minutes using a teleprompter while Trump would speak for an hour or more using a teleprompter only as an outline for what he planned to say.
When it became clear to many that Harris had never worked at McDonalds, Trump worked at one serving up food from the drive-up window. When Biden called all who were voting for Trump “garbage,” Trump rode to one of his rallies in a garbage truck.
When Trump was shot during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, he rose up high over the protection of the Secret Service agents, blood on his face, and raised his fist in the air shouting for all to hear “fight, fight, fight.” He later returned to Butler finishing the rally he began a few weeks earlier. Yes, Americans love a winner and a fighter.
When Harris was asked on numerous occasions to describe her platform, she refused to tell us what it was. She would only advise everyone to go to her website. The only things I heard her talk about was legalizing abortion in every state, which she could not do without the approval of Congress and vague statements about dreams and aspirations. Oh yes, let’s not forget the many ideas she plagiarized from Donald Trump.
Donald Trump picked for his running mate JD Vance, a solid choice who really did come from a less than middle class family. Harris picked Mike Walz who told us all, during his debate with Vance, that he was a “knucklehead” then went on to prove it.
I woke up early on Wednesday November 6th to hear that Trump had been elected as the 47th president of the United States. I immediately thought of Ronald Reagan’s words from 1984, “it’s morning again in America.” Why did Trump win? Because the American people saw the many flaws with Biden, Harris and even Walz. President-elect Donald J. Trump received 312 electoral votes and more than 52% of the popular vote. An enormous achievement.
We now have empirical evidence that democracy is not dead or in peril of being lost. The people have spoken loud and clear. I have always said that I have faith in the American people. I am happy to say I was not disappointed. Every veteran takes an oath to defend the Constitution and freedom. I am happy to say that their sacrifice was not in vain during this election year. The Constitution is safe, our democracy is safe, the Supreme Court is safe, and our way of life is safe. I thank not only Donald Trump, but all who were able to see through all the hype and voted for 45 to be 47 in 2025.
