A Veteran’s Thoughts

Every time I tune into the TV news someone on the Left is telling me that those on the Right are destroying democracy, but they never say how they are going to do it. In my view Democracy is being more threatened by the Left than the Right. First of all, America is not a democracy, it’s a democratic republic. In a democracy every citizen votes for what they want and then the majority rules. In a democratic republic the citizens vote for those who will represent us, and the representatives vote for the laws and execute the policies. In order for the Right to destroy democracy almost every Congressman and almost every Senator would have to vote to make laws that ignore the Constitution.
The Left is lying to you when they say that democracy will be taken away if we do not vote for them. When the Left says democracy, I believe they really mean freedom. On July 13th, our freedom to vote for the President of our choice was nearly taken away when a deranged person, possibly influenced by the hateful rhetoric from the Left, attempted to assassinate Donald Trump. How many other crazies will try to complete the job of death that the twenty-year-old failed to do that Saturday afternoon.
I have been studying the Left and the Right for many years. The Left is the party who wants to take away our freedom or in their words our “democracy.” I can see many ways in which the freedom in America is being eroded. The Left is allowing millions of illegal aliens to enter our country without knowing who they are or why they are here. During the Covid pandemic many American citizens lost their livelihoods when they refused to be vaccinated. At the same time, the illegals entering the country had no such requirement.
The Left voted against the SAVE act (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility). This act would require all who vote in our elections to prove they are an American citizen. Only four Democrat Congressmen voted for it. Why? Is it because they want illegal aliens voting in our elections? I believe they do. This is another way that the Left is destroying democracy. Every non-citizen who votes cancels the vote of an American citizen.
When the Left stopped drilling for the millions of gallons of oil in this country, while at the same time selling part of our emergency oil reserves to China, that was a threat to our democracy or freedom. Another threat to our freedom is the Left doing all they can to force us to abandon fossil fuels and use electric vehicles. With EV’s our freedom of movement is diminished.
Fifty-one former intelligence officers affected the 2020 presidential election when they said that Hunter Biden’s laptop was Russian disinformation. They all knew the laptop belonged to Hunter. They all lied to us. It has been reported that if people had known the laptop belonged to Hunter, they would not have cast their vote for Biden. This is just more proof to me that the Left is the real threat to democracy. When they lie it tells me that they do not care about us. They only care about being re-elected and retaining their power over us.
Another thing that is destroying our democracy (freedom) is the “war on Cops.” Since this war began America’s cities, mostly governed by liberal District Attorneys, are much less safe today than ever before. When a Democrat District Attorney of a large liberal county declares that thieves can steal up to $900.00 of merchandise from a store without fear of being prosecuted, our democracy (our freedom) is threatened.
In 1776 Americans went to war with Britian over the grievances listed in the Declaration of Independence. One of these grievances was “taxation without representation.” Today, some of us are being taxed up to 50% of our earnings. Where is that money going? Much of it to pay for the illegal aliens who are invading our southern border. Is this how you want out tax dollars to be spent? If you don’t, you are being taxed without representation.
Inflation is another form of tax. We have high inflation in this country because the Left is printing money in order to pay for their liberal policies. They are using their tax-and- spend policies to pay for “Student Loan Forgiveness.” Is that where you want your tax dollars to go? I don’t. I paid for my own college education. Will the government reimburse me or any of you for your education expenses? I think not.
Let’s not be fooled by the Left’s rhetoric. We must do our own investigation when anyone is telling us what they want us to hear. Someone said that Americans are “siloed,” meaning we do not spend enough time listening to the other side of an issue. It’s important to listen to both sides of an issue to fully understand it. Most people today only listen to the side that supports their view. We also need to use the common sense we have developed over our many years of life.
It is said that this next presidential election is the most important in the history of America. I believe that’s true. I value my freedom and I’m sure that you do to. I want immigrants who come here to do so legally. I want to be free to drive the type of vehicle I wish. I also want men out of girls’ sports. Most of all I want this country to remain that shining beacon on the hill. I love America and I’m sure you do also. Let us keep it the best country on earth for another two hundred and fifty years.
