I was working with my partner Stanley Ziemelis. I was driving when we decided to do a traffic stop on a car being driven by a white female. I’m sorry I don’t remember why we had decided to stop her. She was about 20 years old and the only person in the car.
Stanley stayed in our car while I walked up to contact the driver. As I was walking up to talk to the driver I noticed a bumper sticker on her rear bumper. It read “God bless John Wayne.” Before I asked for her driver’s license, registration, and insurance, I asked her if the car belonged to her. She said that it did. I then asked her if she had put the bumper sticker on her car. She replied, “no, it was on the car when I bought it, I liked it so much I just left in on the bumper.” I said to her, “have a nice day.”
She asked if she was free to go. I told her “Yes, you are.” She asked why. I told her “I will never write a traffic ticket to someone with a God bless John Wayne bumper sticker on their car. She thanked me and drove away. Stanley asked why I hadn’t given her a ticket. I said because she had a God bless John Wayne bumper sticker on her car. Stanley said “ok,” then we went back to finding bad guys.
