These are turbulent times. I’m not saying that these are the worst times for America has faced worse, and survived.  I am confident that we will survive once again. Harry S. Truman told us, “America was not built on fear. America was built on courage, on imagination and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand.”  The question for today is, what is the job at hand? The answer is to preserve the freedom which is this country’s promise to all who live here.

I believe our Constitution is the most inspired document in the world.  A sad fact is few people have ever read it and even fewer understand it or really appreciate it.  The Constitution begins with an introduction, known as the Preamble, which sets the stage for the supreme law of our land, the enumeration of our government’s powers and our individual rights. The Preamble plainly explains the goal of our forefathers and what they had in mind as the purpose of the Constitution.

The Preamble states:  “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

Notice that “establish Justice” is the first of the five objectives that are outlined in these few words. Without being able or willing to establish justice the other four objectives are unattainable.  Without justice there can be no domestic tranquility, common defense, general welfare or a way to secure the blessings of liberty.

As I watch the news and listen to so many of our elected officials, I ask myself why do they want to “defund the police?”  Are they so ignorant that they have no idea what would happen if there were no police?  I believe it is a way for the progressives to fundamentally change America.  It’s an excellent way to divide the population. Abraham Lincoln warned over 100 years ago, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” Once the country is fully divided it will be easier to remake in the image of those who are the conquerors.

As of February 3rd, the 34th day of the year, 34 police officers had been shot in America.  Think of the outrage if the police had shot 34 members of any minority.  Last year, the first year of Biden’s presidency, 36 police officers were killed in the line of duty.  That’s three officers each and every month of 2021. So far this year 10 officers have been killed while on duty.  Even though the Biden administration won’t admit it, crime is on the rise mostly in Democrat-run cities.  Studying these cities demonstrates that imposing lenient laws and handcuffing the police has only increased crime.  

Eric Adams, the new mayor of New York City, was elected after he promised New Yorkers that he would solve the crime problem in the city. People believed him because he is a retired New York City Police Captain. A few days ago, Adams met with President Biden.  Did they talk about solving the crime problem in America?  No. They talked about the evils of gun ownership.  They talked about how to take guns away from honest, law-abiding gun owners in this country. They completely ignored the fact that guns don’t kill people, people kill people.

Why is there so much more crime in America today? Is it because the laws are not being enforced as in years past? Yes, that’s part of it.  Is it because we have so few leaders today that will show the people how to live a full and productive life?  I believe that is also part of the reason. But I believe that the main reason lies in this, so many people have abandoned belief in God they no longer believe we are a nation of God-fearing people.  In the New Testament, 1 Corinthians 2:14 we read “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him. . .”

This nation is at a tipping point and we as a people need to recognize it and fight against it.  It was Barack Obama who said that America is no longer a Christian nation.  When you go to the polls on November 8th remember who continued to repeat the phrase “hands up don’t shoot” even after it was found to be a lie.  Remember who started the “defund the police” movement. Remember who has been tearing down historical statues, demonizing our founding fathers and working hard to “cancel” all that is good and has been good in this country for 245 years.  And lastly, as we have just found out, it was Hilliary Clinton who paid operatives to spy on Donald Trump, as a sitting president, and then fabricated the lie that he was in bed with Russia.  All for only one reason, to take down and destroy a president and a political party.

It can no longer be ignored that crime in America is on the rise. Without the police the crime in the streets and the crime in our government will never be abated.  We have to remember the important principle of ensuring justice, enshrined in the Preamble. Who will you trust when you go to the polls in November 2022?
